Games

Zombie Panic! (Half-Life Modification)

Monochrome's first title is a modification for Half-Life. Zombie Panic! started as a simple prototype.

Zombie Panic! Source

Zombie Panic! Source is a standalone Half-Life 2 modification. It is the sequel to the Zombie Panic! protoype. Set in the middle of a zombie apocalypse, players start as a small group of survivors attempting to stay alive. Each map will have its own objectives to complete and win the round or survive by a period of time.

Initially released on December 28, 2007, via Mod DB page as a public beta (v1.0) and later re-released for Steam via Steamworks on October 8, 2008, as a free-to-play game.

Contagion

Contagion is the spiritual successor of Zombie Panic!, and was released on Steam in 2013 as a commercial product using Source Engine. In 2025, the engine has been heavily modified and has been renamed to MonoEngine, it's based on the L4D2 engine branch from 2013.

Contagion: Flatline

Contagion: Flatline is an upcoming Free To Play Contagion that only contains the Flatline game mode which has been modified for the F2P experience. It contains microtransactions due to it's F2P nature to unlock skins for weapons and characters. Peer-2-Peer, dedicated servers and full mod support is planned. It's also using an updated version of the MonoEngine.

Zombie Panic! / Zombie Panic! 2

A remake of Zombie Panic! is currently in the works by Monochrome Games. It was first announced on Monochrome's Discord Server back in May of 2022. The first prototype was developed using Unreal Engine 4.2, and public tests were later held in 2023. The public tests were recieved positivitly, but this prototype was later scrapped because Monochrome was not happy how it turned out. A second prototype was later on developed using S&Box which was teased back in 2024.
